Sex Sex Sex!

Sex is all over billboards movies and magazines.  And it’s more than superficially important. According to the Kinsey Institute, an unsatisfying sexual relationship is associated with more breakups.

Are We Normal?

Statistically speaking, married couples have sex around 58 times per year.  This does decrease with aging. To be plain, your newlywed 25 year old cousin is having more sex than your grandparents and that’s normal.  A marriage is considered “sexless” when a couple has sex less than 10 times per year.   But normal is what each of you consider normal NOT a number that you reach.  In couple therapy I ask people to rate the quality of their sexual experience over frequency.

It’s Business Time

The power of imagination can bring you close to your sexual normal.  You can…

  • read erotica
  • share fantasies with your partner, or
  • remember times that you’ve had great sex together

The important thing with these tips or others, is to share it with your person versus think on it alone.  Thinking and imagining  together is a step towards doing.
