Is The Honeymoon Phony?

The honeymoon typically lasts about 30 months.  Researches speculate that during that time, couple have elevated Nerve Growth Factor (NGF).  What does more NGF mean?  All the typical stuff.  Floating on air, lovey giggling madness…and lots of sex. A lot of good bonding and idealizing takes place in this phase.  And, it’s totally phony, just not the whole picture.

What’s Next!??

As relationships mature, you start seeing the faults in our partner, and sometimes those little things begin to drive you mad.  But this is the nature of flaws.  They’re vulnerable.  The upside is that vulnerability shared between two people grows intimacy.  You love your person, all of them.

New Love

As you start to really know your partner, love deepens.  It’s a new kind of love.  It deepens your connection and builds security.  Elements of the honeymoon phase return in a healthy relationship, but they ebb and flow.  You feel more in love, more passionate than ever.   Then in a few weeks you’ve never felt more like two oxen chained to the grind of daily life. The tide comes in, the tide comes out. And over time the relationship becomes better for it.
